SB 1486, the bill to shut down the SoCalGas Aliso Canyon facility that blew out in 2015, will be having its first hearing in the Senate Energy, Utilities, and Communications Committee on Tuesday, April 26. The CA Public Utilities Commission wants to wait until 2035 to shut down Aliso, but we don’t have that kind of time. Our communities and climate need bold action now.

This bill will put a moratorium on the use of Aliso, have Aliso shut down no later than 2027, and provide a just transition for workers.
