Illustrating
Activism
New York Reception
April 29, 2026
VIRTUAL PROGRAM
May 14, 2026
In the darkest of times, creativity and inspiration ignite movements and light the way.
“Revolution begins in the imagination.” – Nazik al-Malaika
From street art to rally chants, to musical performances, and rally posters – throughout history, art and creativity have been key forces in movements for change. At this intersection of art and activism, we unlock new ideas, envision the world we are working toward, and spark joy that keeps the movement moving.
Against All Odds: Illustrating Activism is a benefit to protect our planet and our future — and our opportunity to gather in community and solidarity. Together, we work to secure clean water, safe food, and a livable climate for all.
This year, we celebrate the inspiring creativity of our community in our fight for a better future.

Illustrating Activism
Together we gather for community and inspiration—to protect what we love now and into the future.
You’re invited to Against All Odds, Food & Water Watch’s annual celebration and benefit to protect our planet. This year, we’re honoring artists in our community and the work they do to protect our planet and our future.
Join us to:
- Recognize our honorees, Fredericka Foster, Matt Wechsler, and Susan Weltman
- Hear from Maude Barlow, author of Earth for Sale: The Fight to Stop the Last Plunder of the Commons
- Listen to a poem from Ada Limón, 24th Poet Laureate of the U.S., and live music from artist and water activists, Britton & The Sting

What People Are Saying
“It was so great to connect with other FWW supporters at last year’s gala. I made meaningful connections that I hope to continue to cultivate. I also really loved hearing stories of great community organizing.”

“The 20th Anniversary celebration Against All Odds with Food & Water Watch was inspirational. Listening to life-long environmental advocates and activists reminded me of the commitment this organization has to getting results.”
Susan Weltman

“It was a thrill to be present when Steve Max was honored last year. I first met him when I was 15, oh so many years ago, and he had organized a food drive for striking miners in the South. I wrote in my diary, ’Steve is such a great organizer!'”
Daniele Gerard
FWW Benefit Attendee
“I was delighted to attend the benefit last year! I learned even more about what organizers are doing in the field, and was extremely grateful to have played a role in such a fabulous tribute to Food & Water Watch!”
