Newburgh, NY: Stop the Iroquois Pipeline Fracked Gas Expansion!

**It’s time for the city of Newburgh to speak up about the Iroquois fracked gas pipeline expansion.**

If approved, this pipeline expansion would require doubling the pressure on an old 30+ year old pipeline, right as it cuts across the Hudson River north of Newburgh in Hudson before traveling down through Dutchess County to deliver gas to NYC and Long Island. Compressor stations in Athens and Dover would be expanded and more dirty and explosive fracked gas would travel through the region, threatening our health and safety.

This expansion is a bad idea — which is why the Newburgh Conservation Advisory Council is asking that City Council pass a resolution urging Governor Hochul to deny the Iroquois Pipeline expansion.

**Show up to the Newburgh City Council meeting and urge them to pass this resolution!** We will gather together at 6:30pm outside of City Hall for a quick briefing before heading in to give public comment and/or hold small signs in support of the resolution.

As an environmental justice community right on the Hudson River with a history of successfully standing up to powerful fossil fuel interests, the City of Newburgh cannot stay silent on this.

So far, eight municipalities have passed resolutions: Kingston, Town of New Paltz, Village of New Paltz, Stanford, Town of Poughkeepsie, Village of Athens, City of Hudson, and Town of North East.

When we successfully won our fight against the Danskammer power plant, it was because we had the backing of neighboring communities who stepped up to speak out, understanding that pollution knows no boundaries. **Lets make sure the City of Newburgh lends its voice to this important fight.**
