A company called HEI-Way Asphalt is attempting to build a cold asphalt plant right along Slippery Rock Creek, a treasured, pristine source of water that will be threatened by the heavy industrial activity of an asphalt plant.

HEI-Way is asking Slippery Rock Township for a special zoning exception to allow heavy industrial activity in an area meant for rural conservation. Slippery Rock Township’s Zoning Hearing Board will decide on Thursday whether or not to allow this exception.
