We are drowning in utility bills, and it’s funding climate chaos!

Utility bills have been going up astronomically, and that needs to stop. We say NO to endless rate hikes that continue to exploit already cash-strapped working class people. With this legislation, utility rates would be capped to 6% of low and middle class New Yorkers’ income.

The HEAT Act would get rid of the “100-foot rule.” Currently, our rates as Central Hudson customers not only go toward paying for our own utilities, they also go toward paying for new gas lines for all new customers! The “100-foot rule” is an old, outdated law that’s fueling the climate crisis and lining the pockets of Central Hudson and the fossil fuel industry.
