Cortlandt, NY: No Radioactive Waste in Our Air or Water!

Published Apr 15, 2024

_Holtec International, the company in charge of decommissioning Indian Point, just sued the State of New York for passing a law making it illegal for them to dump their radioactive waste into the Hudson River._

**Join activists outside the Cortlandt Town Hall in Westchester for a rally and press conference to call out Holtec International and make it clear this lawsuit is trash!** The radioactive wastewater from Indian Point must not end up in the Hudson River, our air, or any other waterways.

Over eight months ago, Governor Hochul signed a historic law making it illegal to dump radioactive waste from retiring nuclear plants into the Hudson River. This law was passed to protect the Hudson River, which is a major economic engine for New York. We need to make sure that Holtec does not prevail in its pursuit of dumping the waste into into the Hudson — and ensure the waste doesn’t end up getting evaporated, burned, or simply moved to be dumped elsewhere instead.

**After the event, there will be a meeting in the town hall at 6pm featuring independent expert and nuclear engineer Arnie Gundersen, who will review what safe onsite storage of this waste could look like at Indian Point.** Please join us for the rally and meeting inside afterward.
