For Immediate Release
Today, the Interior Department is holding a forum to discuss oil and gas drilling on public lands.

Food & Water Watch Policy Director Mitch Jones released the following statement.

“On the campaign trail, Joe Biden was crystal clear about ending fracking on public lands. His administration should be held to that commitment. Anything less than a bold policy that ends fracking and all fossil fuel extraction on public lands would be a huge step backwards in our fight to stop climate chaos. The White House should stand firm in the face of the absurd whining coming from the dirty energy corporations that spent the last four years stockpiling drilling leases. The fossil fuel era must come to an end, and a strong policy protecting public lands from dirty energy exploitation is a meaningful step in that direction.”
