The war in Ukraine has brought energy independence to the forefront of international conversation. The recent US/EU Energy Security agreement calls for increasing US fossil fuel exports to Europe, but in order to avert the worst impacts of climate change, the US and the EU need to transition away from all fossil fuels, not double down on the transatlantic fossil fuel trade.
