As we approach the April 1 deadline for a final state budget, we’re rallying outside Governor Hochul’s office to send a loud message that we need action to address the climate and inequality crises right now.
We’re drawing the attention of the press and the public to demand Governor Hochul:
1) Pass All-Electric Building Act mandating a gas ban in new construction starting in 2024
2) Repeal 421-a to remove a tax break for developers building mostly market rate housing that cost the state $1.7 billion in revenue last year
In the face of terrifying climate forecasts, Kathy Hochul’s New York still refuses to take simple steps like slashing pollution from buildings in time, and developers continue to build housing reliant on fossil fuels that’s out of reach for many people while collecting generous tax breaks and adding fuel to the climate crisis.
