Intern

We are currently seeking interns interested in fighting for safe food, clean water, and healthy oceans. Hours are flexible in a relaxed office environment.
Internships are available during any of the following terms:
Spring, Fall: This position may be full- or part-time (~15 hours per week minimum). Spring dates are January-May. Fall term dates are September – December.Summer: This position is full-time and runs for 10 weeks during May-August. Small stipends may be available for summer interns.

Available Internships:
Grassroots Organizing & Research Internship, New York
Protect our marine environment while challenging the privatization of ocean resources. Campaign for safe seafood and support local fishing communities. Protect water as a public resource rather than a commodity sold to the highest bidder. Campaign for more support for our public water systems, while exposing the myths and dangers of the bottled water industry. Challenge factory farms and other industrialized agriculture, and promote local, sustainable food systems.
Social Media Internship
The Social Media Intern coordinates the online marketing and communications campaign for a major documentary on the fight for social justice around community water. The Social Media Intern is part of the communications department and reports to the Internet Strategist and is matrixed to the film director/staff.
Legal Internship
We are currently seeking a legal intern who will assist the organization’s staff attorney by doing research, writing, and litigation, advocacy, and lobbying support for all of Food & Water Watch’s programs. Responsibilities will be both legal- and policy-oriented work in the fields of marine-resource protection, food safety, as well as water, administrative, and open-government law.
Communications Internship
The Food & Water Watch communications staff is responsible for developing and implementing new and traditional media outreach strategies for national, regional and local issue campaigns. We are accepting applications for a hands-on position that will offer great opportunities for developing skills and experience in public interest issue advocacy.
Research Internship – International Program
The international intern will work directly with members of the international team to provide information, analysis and written materials to support Food & Water Watch campaigns.
Research Internship – Water Program
The water research intern assists the water research team with providing information, analysis and written materials to support Food & Water Watch Clean Public Water campaigns.
Grassroots Organizing & Advocacy Internship – Water Program
Our Water Program fights to protect water as a public resource rather than a commodity sold to the highest bidder. The water program intern will assist in the campaign for more support for our public water systems, while exposing the myths and dangers of the bottled water industry.
Advocacy and Research Internship – Fish Program
Our Fish Program challenges the privatization of our ocean resources, educates the public to promote sustainable seafood consumption, and fights for the interests of small fishermen and coastal communities which deliver consumers safe and healthy seafood. The fish program is currently accepting applications for an advocacy and research internship.
Advocacy and Research Internship – Food Program
The advocacy and research - food program intern will work directly with the food team to challenge factory farms and other industrialized agriculture, and promote local, sustainable food systems. Additionally, the intern will work closely with the grassroots organizing team on our 2009 Child Nutrition Reauthorization campaign.
