We won a vote to block Monsanto's DARK Act bill in the Senate that would have banned state laws to label GMOs, but we need to keep up the pressure to kill the bill once and for all. Senators are on recess and in their home states and we need to make sure they oppose the DARK Act when it comes back up for a vote.
Use the postal code search below to find a list of Senate offices near you, then follow the instructions below to host or join a Delivery Event in your area.
Senator Roberts' bill would block state efforts for mandatory GMO labeling. The Grocery Manufacturers Association, an industry group that represents Monsanto, Nestlé, Dow and Pepsi, is pushing this bill because it would let them continue to keep quiet about their production and use of GMO foods. The clock is ticking since Vermont's statewide GMO labeling law will go into effect in July, and industry groups desperately want to prevent that from happening.
Your Senator has a key role to play in whether or not GMO labeling efforts will be protected. Whether you're concerned about RoundUp used on genetically engineered crops, the potential health and environmental impacts of GMOs, the corporate control of our food system, or states' rights, we need to stop the DARK Act.
