Colleges and rBGH
Believe it or not, colleges are becoming a major front in the healthy, sustainable food movement. Dozens of colleges have initiated farm-to-college programs, wherein cafeterias feature locally-grown or raised food. Others, such as Oberlin College and Williams College, have banned milk produced with rBGH from school cafeterias.
Your college can join the movement! Students, who are in a prime position to enact this type of change, can encourage their school food service personnel to make the switch to rBGH-free milk. Or staff members, who often have purchasing leeway, can choose to get artificial growth hormones out of the college’s milk supply. The time is now!
