Chef Rocky Barnette
Who is Chef Rocky?
Rocky Barnette is a chef without a restaurant who’s willing to go anywhere to prove that clean, green, sustainable cuisine can happen everywhere.
Rocky graduated from culinary school in 2001 and then spent years perfecting his skills at The Inn at Little Washington, where he rose to the position of Executive Sous Chef under the tutelage of Patrick O’Connell. After his time at The Inn at Little Washington, Rocky started working with artists who work with food related themes. He collaborated on an installation called “Ritual Feast” with New Orleans artist Dawn Dedeaux for Prospect New Orleans. He also worked with artist Peter Nadin, who raises pigs in Hudson Valley, NY.
Rocky now lives in Marfa, Texas, where he raises his own animals and grows his own produce. He recognizes that shopping smart is not enough to fix our food system and wants to play a critical role in bringing the necessary change. Rocky has worked with Food & Water Watch on various sustainable food campaigns, including the creation of a sustainable seafood recipe book. He continues to serve the organization’s mission by inspiring people to take pride in their food choices.
