Help make sure factory farms can't claim to be organic!
The USDA has written a proposal for organic beef cattle that could essentially allow organic beef to come from factory farm style feedlots. We already went through this with organic dairy cows, and won! Now, the agency needs to make it clear that even if cattle get fed some grain at the end of their life, they still have to have access to pasture and don’t spend their time confined in feedlots. And they also need to figure out a way for beef from organic cattle that are totally grass-fed to get labeled so consumers know what they are getting.
