I volunteer for Food & Water Watch because I get to have a real impact on important campaigns. I know that every time I come out to help out at a table, a public event or activist meeting that what I'm doing is really making a difference.

Did You Watch the State of the Union Address?
(February 1, 2012 message)

“I will not back down from … making sure that our food is safe and our water is clean.” This quote from President Obama’s State of the Union speech last week expresses the very reason Food & Water Watch exists. It’s great to hear that the President supports our mission in such forceful terms. But when it comes to putting those words into action, he has room for improvement. Food inspection independent of corporate control is under attack by this administration, and frankenfoods are green-lighted. More.

Tainted OJ? Not so COOL
(January 18, 2012 message)

Unless you are reading the label, you may think that the “all-American” OJ you grew up with is, well, all American. But last week’s news about orange juice tainted with a fungicide in the large quantity of juice imported from Brazil may have changed that. Some American processors mix the imported juice from Brazil — which allows the offending fungicide, carbendazim, with juice from the United States, which does not. More.

Looking Forward in 2012
(January 13, 2012 message)

Happy (belated) New Year! Our supporters are the best! Thanks to everyone who helped us make (and exceed!) our $100,000 end-of-year matching gift goal.

Three exclamation points already in the first paragraph – I have to cut the coffee back. But seriously, we are a young organization building our support person by person and you are helping to make a difference for the safety and accessibility of our food, water and essential resources. Thanks again for everything you do. More.
